My Professional Profile

I began my training at the Sharon Green Dance Academy (then known as the Ulla Academy of Arts) aged 5. My mum took me to my first ballet lesson thinking it would be just another hobby I’d get bored of but after years of performing in local productions, competing in festivals and passing many exams in I.D.T.A she and my family knew it was just the start of my career.

During school I spent most nights and weekends at my dance school. As well as my own classes I was assisting my teacher with the baby classes. As getting older and more experienced I started taking classes of my own under my teachers supervision, some of the kids in my class only being a year or so younger than me.

At the age of 16 I went to Stratford-upon-Avon College where I received a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts. I then went on to gaining myself a place at The Urdang Academy in London where I studied for 3 years, graduating with a National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre. Throughout my time in London I trained alongside the likes of Flawless, Dean Lee assistant choreographer to Janet Jackson and Brian Freedman (choreographer of the X-Factor) as well as many other inspirational dancers.
After graduating I was asked to join the cast of Disneyland Paris where I played many roles as well as dancing in the parades and shows. Even though I had always enjoyed performing so much and still do I have decided to take a step back from it and pursue a career in Teaching dance. I am now working towards my Associate teachers exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern within the I.D.T.A branch. I am also about to start teaching Zumba classes for children right through to the elderly.

Eventually as well as teaching in dance schools I would like to start teaching within the public and private school sector which is why I am now studying towards a degree. I’m hoping this degree will give me the final tools I need to take me that one step closer to my ambitions.

  1. Hi Ebony,

your Professional Profile appears very clear. From the past until now it seems that you know what you want. You explain very well what your ambitions are to attend the BAPP. So, I have not got to say any negative about your Professional Profile.
